I really warm to the remembrances of the Footscray Technical School, as I went to a technical school after leaving highschool and it was such a wonderful life-changing experience. I did go to technical school to study art and how to become an artisan, its where my dabbling in clay became very much ingrained in me, and look where we are now! Sadly higher education is being more and more skewed to economic rationalisation, instead of the training of artisans.

(I am also sorry to say that there was no 'instead' of labourers, as my job as an artist is very labour intensive, but it was a wonderful sentiment)

Molly's cup - School is a necessary stage in life, yet . . . .

School is a necessary stage in life, yet somehow manages to suck the enjoyment out of everything you used to like. School puts everybody in the same box and assumes you work the same way as the other hundreds of kids in their care. It’s important and opens up opportunities, but it should find a more inclusive way of doing so.

Thanks Molly for this cup and I was going to leave it on a yellow machine, hence the photo, but then I found out where the projections were going to be so I took it around the other side of the block and I found some paste-ups by Larissa on the way. . . . . 

and then later in the evening I met her!!!!!!

and told her how wonderful they are.

This is one of Kim Burrell's archival finds,
 and here it is placed in the area where I think the old pottery school was.
There is a tree her which looks pretty old given the width of the trunk.
