states of Blu Artist walk with Chantal Wynter and cup placement!

A wonderful evening was had by all 60 people who turned up for the artist walk led by Chantal Wynter which began at the Footscray Community Art Centre.

But first of all, about and hour beforehand, I went placing cups in the hope that people on the artist's walk would find them on their way.

Lets see . . ./ .

states of Blu Artist walk with Chantal Wynter and cup placement!

A wonderful evening was had by all 60 people who turned up for the artist walk led by Chantal Wynter which began at the Footscray Community Art Centre.

But first of all, about and hour beforehand, I went placing cups in the hope that people on the artist's walk would find them on their way.

Lets see . . ./ .

here I am placing the first cup,
its Rich's cup.

the cup is sitting below this big paste-up

entitled for the love of Footscray.

The cup has characters on it! Similarly so does the paste-up

Its in the carpark!

Then I went looking for the entrance to Faux Pho studios as I knew the art tour would come near here tonight, I'm in Madden Square. Its full of paste-ups and murals.

Five electrical boxes owned by Jemena(external link) are being transformed by street artist Cezary Stulgis.

so here I planted the second cup in my fave!!!!! an abandoned shopping trolley.
I find abandoned shopping trolleys irresistable. I need to photograph them.

the bird is quite pleased to be in the trolley

oh look there's a baby guerilla in the background.

a lovely blue abstract

I just love madden Square!

now here is something interesting!

I heard Trocadero was on the tour, so I ducked inside the entrance and planted a cup

first of all I tried to place it on top of this meter box but there was no top so it just fell in!
but then I noticed i could undo the little door at the front and rescue it.

take a photo of its text ( It's the title cup)
and put it somewhere safer . . .

off again towards the station,
love the shoe bin

I loved this sign and I noticed that I had seen these letters Drank before somewhere.

well then since I love it all so much why not leave a cup here . . . .

and photograph through the frame . . .

and then off across the station to the other side . . .

to plant this fabulous cup!
it reads: A moment of insight in the mind of someone who has just read some public protest graffiti or art.

I love this swing!

little terraces in a row

messages on the fence of this artful place

it has more messages all over the place, so I thought the last cup for today can be sitting nearby.

this cups message is: Education allows you to fix yourself, teach others how to grow. education is life. That's Ocore's cup!

I sait it on a power box near the blue house of messages.

just a couple of glimpses of the artwork on its outsides

and now to meet the art tour!

Here we are looking at a little projection of mainly stop motion pros, by many people and listening to one of the artists talk about his involvement in it.

there is this artwork on the rail bridge made of cds which reflect the light.

here is the weekly ticket at the footscray station. He has been hired to work here for two hours a week for ten years.

he encouraged us to run and act weirdly and we did!

now here is the crowd on the tour milling outside the station and we can see that only an hour later, the little cup I planted here is gone!!!!

off towards the trocadero and in the upstairs window is a projection.

and you have to love this bus coming past with 'shades of blue' printed on it, as we are doing our 'states of blue' walk.
though jennifer lopez and ray liotta, you do not tempt me to watch shades of blue, I'll just stick to states of blue.

around the corner, more projections.

but we do not go into trocadero, so no-one finds a cup!

but we did walk into the mall .. .
and as I was pointing to the tree that had a cup in it, which got chopped down!!!!!!!! this week, I notice the cup sitting on the ground!

Its sitting there but you cant get to it, because their is security fencing around the area which is being renovated. Perhaps the workmen are enjoying that cup.

then near madden square, we see Paola Ballas projection work.

but no-one goes into madden square to find the cup ( that I know of)

then we go to the back of littlefoot bar to look at the Quantam van . . . .

and then I say theres a cup near here, and a young girl and her mother find it.

well I am pleased about that.

About: Message in a Cup

Messages and stories of learning in Footscray are collected and then written onto the insides of one hundred handmade blue cups. The cups are placed in Footscray during BluScray events to be found by people and taken home. The project gives voice to peoples experiences and understandings of learning and shares these ideas with others in the city of Footscray.

Message in a Cup is part of BluScray,  a program of blue-themed arts and cultural events held throughout 2016 to celebrate Victoria University’s Centenary in collaboration with Maribyrnong City Council for the Footscray University Town initiative. Message in a cup was made by the artist Debbie Harman Qadri.
