the aim of school is to plant the seeds - the last cup

'the aim of school is to plant the seeds'

A message from Kim

Since Kim, the university archivist, became involved with the project and her team were actively chasing cups for the university collection, I invited her to choose the spot to put her message in a cup.
It was also the last cup in the project. I thought this was a very apt way to complete the project with someone who has been following the journey.

As it was a busy day I wrote the meeting time and place on my hand as artists are wont to do.
Here holding Kim's cup.

above: I also had made three spare cups just in case I needed them.  two of them  made their way quietly to a lucky person who has worked at the university for many years and the last spare cup was brought to Kim because although she found a few cups, she has placed these into the university archives.

it is a sweet little cup showing what happens when you plant seeds

and in front of one of my fave artists works ( again, again again)

Kim has always loved this sign, so we sat the cup in front of this dangerous architecture.
Its a pity its not hot in winter and cool in summer.

a selfie to end the project with.
thanks Kim for celebrating the last placement with me.

About: Message in a Cup

Messages and stories of learning in Footscray are collected and then written onto the insides of one hundred handmade blue cups. The cups are placed in Footscray during BluScray events to be found by people and taken home. The project gives voice to peoples experiences and understandings of learning and shares these ideas with others in the city of Footscray.

Message in a Cup is part of BluScray,  a program of blue-themed arts and cultural events held throughout 2016 to celebrate Victoria University’s Centenary in collaboration with Maribyrnong City Council for the Footscray University Town initiative. Message in a cup was made by the artist Debbie Harman Qadri.
